Burlesque Noir’s Joy Coy will be showcased in the Free Range Burlesque event at the 2nd Annual Southern Fried Burlesque Fest in Atlanta, GA

Joy Coy is a burlesque performer, performance artist, and amateur journalist based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is classically trained in the styles of ballet, jazz, modern, and lyrical-jazz. Joy is also a member of Albuquerque’s sensational neo-burlesque troupe, Burlesque Noir.

Fairly new to the burlesque scene, Joy began performing in the backyard of her former party-house/commune in October, 2010. Once introduced to the greater world of shimmies and shakes, through Burlesque Noir, she developed a profound love for the art that she had never felt before and hasn’t left the stage since

Windy City Burlesque Festival Bonus Picture

Burlesque Noir engulfed by  the gorgeous “The No-Panster Romancer” Jett Adore of the Stage Door Johnnies.

You are so jealous that we are with him. I feel it. Bwhahahahaha!

Windy City Burlesque Festival:The Recap

Dun dun dunnnnnnn! It has been one full week since returning from Chicago and I don’t think I have fully recovered. Going there has completely ruined me.  The food was fantastic.  The BEER was fantastic.  But most of all the burlesque was completely mind-blowing awesome.

The Windy City Burlesque festival was 12 hours of burlesque. Two nights, three, two hour performances back to back to  sexy back.  I really have to give major big ups to the producers and the theater staff for putting on such a well put together, professional and highly entertaining show. And now some photos!

After getting in on Friday and Red Hot Annie picked us up from the airport. We got gussied up and headed out to get some food and see some sights before the Friday night show. Damn right we got hot dogs. That’s a macaroni and cheese dog. WITH BACON!

After hot dogs, we headed to the Cookie Bar.We ate cookies while listening to disco music. Our life is hard.

Up next…….BEER!

We had three hours to kill before show time so we found a bar and split a yard of beer. Yup.  That’s right.  All we did was eat, drink and watch burlesque.  OUR LIVES ARE HARD!

Now, on to the show. We couldn’t take pictures of the show so mosey on over to Facebook and check out the official show photography. Go! Mosey!

Welcome back!

Check us out with the amazing Anna Fur Laxis all the way from Yorkshire, England. She threw axes. Badass!

Here we are with the awesome Jeez Loueez.  She seriously blew us away.  We saw her do an amazing Prince piece in Chicago, but we can’t find video of it yet.  You’ll have to settle for watching her do a singing burlesque piece to Whitney Houston’s The Greatest Love of All.

We took a quick shot with our host and one of the producers of WCBF Red Hot Annie.  Maybe you saw her at Southwest Burlesque Showcase in February?

Here we are with Lala Vulvaria.  She performed THE BEST PRINCE PIECE EVER.  She’s part of Super Happy Funtime Burlesque.  They performed in Albuquerque in August, 2010 and nobody showed up.  Their show was incredible.  Next time they make it to NM everybody better get their asses out to see them.

This is Kellita.  She founded  Hot Pink Feathers in San Fransisco in 2000.  We have it on good authority that New Mexico may be seeing some of this Queen of Carnival really soon.  (keep checking back here or subscribe to the newsletter and we’ll keep you in the loop)

Here we are above with Foxy Tann (second from left) and Franny Fluffernutter (far right). We saw Foxy Tann at New York and Colorado in 2010. She’s awesome. Franny Fluffer Nutter is a baton twirling baby on the Burlesque scene. We can’t wait to see more from here. I guess we will when we go to The Great Burlesque Exposition next month.

Blurry picture of the hotness that is Ray Gunn of The Stage Door Johnnies. Sexual chocolate, right there in person. Holly and I took a choreography workshop class from him (highly recommended) and the incredible Kitten DeVille. Yes. THE Kitten Deville. ( We also got to borrow a pen and a piece of paper from her)

By far the most incredible act of the weekend for us was Jett Adore of The Stage Door Johnnies.  This piece live was one of the most incredible burlesque numbers we’ve ever seen.

There were so many other great acts at WCBF, we just forgot to take photos with everybody else.

After performing Saturday night, there was much drinking until 5 am, howling at the (non-existent) super-moon, jalepeno burgers from White Castle and sleep.

Sunday we got to explore Burlesque Mart aka Hollywood Mirror and Ragstock. Chicago has totally runined us.

This city has it going on when it comes to burlesque. I feel so fortunate to have taken part in such a fantastic festival and to have met with all the wonderful performers.

Our photo was posted on the photo review page for WCBF in Time Out Chicago. We’re the third photo, right in between Anna Fur Laxis and Lucy Buttons, which is not a bad place to be.

Here’s a review from somebody else who was there too. We don’t remember meeting him and his friends but he seemed to have a lot of great things to say about his trip to Chicago, too.

Many thanks to Mr. Rebelle for contributing and making this post sound like someone with an education wrote it.
