BHoF Bound

Over the past 9 years, our little burlesque company developed from a rag-tag group of misfit stripteasers lost in the desert, into a group of seriously sparkly ecdysiasts on a mission to take over the world.

Our troupe didn’t begin with a clear idea of what “burlesque” was. We got the idea that it was some stripping, some dancing, and generally the risque entertainment of a bygone era.

We knew there was a burlesque movement out there in the larger world, but for the first few years, we were unsure what it really looked like. New Mexico is not just a geographical desert, but in many ways, it is also a cultural island. Largely free of outside influence, Burlesque Noir and the other troupe in town, BellaDonna Burlesque Revue, created their own version of burlesque based on the few sources available to them at the time.

In 2007, Holly Rebelle ventured off to her first Miss Exotic World Weekend, simultaneously, it was the first year that BHoF moved to Las Vegas. Fully immersed in the larger world of striptease for the first time, despite performing for 2 years, she’d never seen a Swavorski crystal on stage. She’d never seen group work besides her own. She’d never seen neo-burlesque outside of her home town. It was eye-opening, overwhelming, but it also confirmed that what we had been doing was not all that different from what was going on in the national burlesque community.

Holly also saw one more thing: that she believed her troupe, Burlesque Noir had the potential to one day perform at that stage.

Seven years, dozens of festivals, thousands of miles, three trophies, scores of new friends from every corner of the country, the journey to that BHoF stage has been incredible. Today we embark on the final leg of that journey, costumes packed, and ready to turn a seven year old dream into reality.
